[A] BACKGROUND

[A.1] Role of Madaris in the Societal Development and their Limitations

The madarsas have a great place in the promotion and survival of Islamic teachings and they have played a significant role in it. They are doing commendable works in almost all parts of the world. Therefore, no one can deny their services and importance. However, at present, especially in North India, they lack in modern education. Most of them are not teaching NCERT courses approved by government for modern education up to Secondary and Senior Secondary levels. There are several reasons for this. Even if they want to teach NCERT, they do not have the time in the current Madrasa education system as they already have a very tight schedule. The biggest reason is lack of time, capacity, financial resources and infrastructure.

 [A.2] Government Efforts and Their Limitations

Although the Government of India is providing financial assistance to registered Madarsas to strengthen their infrastructure and other facilities so that modern education can be provided there along with Islamic education but Madaris do not have the proper system of teaching to teach both of the education simultaneously.

 [A.3]Al Qalam Foundation Efforts

Al Qalam Foundation through Model Madarsa System (MMS) addresses this issue. However, this system needs a thorough revision of teaching material, work books, delivery system and training of the teachers. Programs for all of them have been developed and their implementation is under way through establishment our own school/madarsa/academy. MMS is intended to be implemented in all Madarsas in phased manner.

 [B] VISION & THE MISSION

Model Madarsa based Madaris/schools will be equipped with proper capabilities to fulfil the need of community in terms of Islamic and modern education, leadership, centres of the communities need for their welfare and be adaptive to be upgraded continuously in Islamic perspectives and National aspirations. We are committed to do the following: 

  • Bridging the gap between Islamic and modern education
  • Provision of quality education in the realm of society
  • Multi-facet personality development of the student in Islamic perspectives
  • Development of leadership skill with communal harmony and national integrity
  • To establish Schools/Madaris as a model Madarsa in the society
  • To train the students as responsible citizen for national and international platform

  C] SPECIAL FEATURES OF NEW SYSTEM

[C.1] MMS- Model Madarsa System

Model Madarsa System is a system of education wherein attempt has been made to improve the educational system of Madarsas upto Secondary Level only so that they can meet the expectations of government and community simultaneously. They can impart modern education as per NCERT (National Council of Education, Research & Training), without affecting traditional Islamic education. Rather both the educations will be of high quality. The current proposed system is for this purpose and thus we have named it as M-NCERT (Madrasa Education system with NCERT).

[C.2] A New Teaching Approach: A Composite Teaching

Outcome based learning system has been developed using Composite Teaching Methodology. It covers NCERT curriculum with traditional Islamic  education, The quality & quantity of both education is maintained. The contact hours per annum per subject are about 200 which are more than 180 which is the prescribed norm of NCERT. However it requires special training of teachers to impart the two educations simultaneously under the same room and schooling time.

 [C.3] Multilingual Personality of Students

Apart from learning regular curriculum, the students will have the ability to Listen, Speak, Read and Write (LSRW) in four languages ​​(Urdu, Arabic, English and Hindi). Any other local language may be added or replaced with Hindi upto primary level, if needed.

Thus the students will gain Multilingual capability in LSRW.

[C.4] Courses/ Multiple Certificates

Under this system, 13 years of studies will be completed in 4 phases in the usual manner:

  1. Pre-Primary (KG) 1Year
  2. Primary 5 years;
  3. Middle 3 years;
  4. Secondary* 2 years;
  5. Senior Secondary* 2 years;

Total duration: 13 years.

(* Under new education Policy, Secondary Level will be of 4 years and Primary will start from class 3rd.  

Pre-Primary, KG to 2nd class will be named as Foundation Course.)

 Thus, in 13 years, 3 courses (Maulvi, Hafiz-e-Quran and Senior Secondary Level (Intermediate) will be completed simultaneously and students will be able to get these certificates.

 

[D] HIGHER EDUCATION OF STUDENTS

By getting balanced education the students will be able to enrol themselves in any branch of their choice in any institute of modern education after MMS Secondary education. They will also be ambassador of Islam in those fields which they will join. However, the students who decide to serve Islam by specializing in religious education will be able to take admission in Madaris of Higher Education (Darul Ulooms).

[E] ESTABLISHMENT OF CENTRAL MADRSA BOARD

Since this system will meet both government and community expectations and the madarsas will be financially self-sufficient, we hope and appeal to the Government of India to establish a Central Madarsa Board which can affiliate such Madaris and can recognize their Dual/ Triple degree program.  It will be a major breakthrough in the development of the country and the society. All intellectuals and community well wishers are also requested to utilize their resources and capabilities to fulfil this need of the time of the community. We also request your full cooperation in this respect.

 

[F] AL-QALAM MOEL PUBLIC SCHOOL    القلم ماڈل پبلک اسکول

A Centre of Deeni and Modern Education:  دینی اور عصری تعلیم کا ایک مرکز

It is one of the Model Madrasa System based school/madrasa of Al Qalam Foundation (Trust). It is being developed as a working model of MMS and training centre to showcase the actual system for others Madaris/School and a centre for training of their staff. The classes from Nursery to VIII have been started at Nagina House, Adam Nagar, Barauli Road, (Nagla Patwari) Aligarh-202001, UP. The system is fully compatible with New Education Policy of India. Under this system, upto Senior Secondary level, the students will get three certificates of Senior Secondary, Maulvi & Hafiz-e-Quran through Composite Teaching Methodology.

 [G] INTAKE, ADMISSION & DATE

Intake:  From KG to V : 30-35 per class

The fee structure was designed to meet the need of the poor families of the society around the school.

I (5.5-7), II (6.5-8), III (7.5-9), IV (8.5-10), V (9.5-11)

VI (10.5-12), VII (11.5- 13), VIII (12.5-14)
